No hay ladrón que por bien no venga

I went to the theater last Saturday to see No hay ladrón que por bien no venga (kind of hard to translate to English... it'd be something like Every thief has a silver lining... I know, sucky translation...). Anyway, I looooved it!! It's directed by my former univesity drama professor, Alejadro Magnone and performed by several of the actors I used to work with back in uni. That's why I was really looking forward to it! I managed to go see it on their final performance at Teatro La Tertulia and loved them! The comedy, written by Darío Fo, takes place in the living room of a wealthy family in Buenos Aires in the 60s. The couple cheat on each other and once a thief breaks into the house a series of really funny episodes take place, showing jealousy, misunderstanding and each individual's hypocrecy, all with a great sense of humor.

I was amazed at the use of space on stage. The theatre is quite small, and has no traditional "back stage". The whole stage is a black square room that has more of a "side stage" where chatacters came in and out of the house and onto the "rooms". Also the set desing was simple, but with the right spotlights it was almost as if the props where characters as well. Needless to say I was very impressed. Too bad I couldn't recommend this sooner!

El sábado pasado fui al teatro a ver No hay ladrón que por bien no venga. La verdad que me encantó!! La dirije Alejadro Magnone, mi profesor de teatro en la facu, y actúan muchos de mis compañeros de ese taller. Por eso quería ir a verla! Al final logré ir a la última función en el Teatro La Tertulia y me encantó!! La historia es una comedia escrita por Darío Fo, y se lleva a cabo en el living de una familia acomodada de la Buenos Aires de los años 60. Marido y mujer se engañan, y con la llegada de un ladrón que entra en la casa se desatan una seria de escenas muy divertidas en donde se exponen los celos, la falta de comprensión y la hipocresía de cada uno de los personajes, pero con un muy buen toque de humor.

Me encantó el uso del espacio en la escena. El teatro es bastante chico, y no tiene un bastidor "tradicional". El escenario es un cuadrado negro que tiene una especie de bastidores al costado, por donde los personajes entran y salen de la casa y hacia las otras habitaciones. La escenografía también era muy simple, pero con las luces justas, haciendo que la utilería cumpliera casi el rol de un personaje más. Creo que no hace falta decir que me encantó. Qué pena que no la pude recomendar antes!
