Total abandonment...

I know! I've been neglecting you!! I won't try to hide it... 'cause it'd be useless. But I wanted to let you know that I've come up with a little self-inflicted punishment... I went out running today! Yes, you read right. RUNNING I tell 'ya! How is this possibe? I don't know... i just grabbed my sneakers and went out. And I run 1km... am I out of shape or am I out of shape?? Hehe, of course that's not all I did, I walked pretty fast and pretty hard for a while too... and you have to consider the elements: it had just pourded down on the city, which means I had to jump and zig-zag and down right get soaked from time to time... But I loved it! Let's see how long it lasts...

I've missed ya!


Ya sé! Las tengo re abandonadas!! No voy a negarlo... ni voy a intentarlo. Pero quería contarles que ya me autoimpuse una penitencia... hoy fui a correr! Sí, leíste bien: CORRER! Cómo es posible? No sé... agarré las zapatillas y salí. Y corrí 1km. Estoy fuera de estado o qué?? Jejej, obvio que no es todo lo que hice, caminé un montón super rápido... y hay que considerar los obstáculos a los que una se enfrenta cuando sale a correr por la ciudad: recién había llovido por ende tuve que saltar, zigzaguear y empaparme con las baldozas sueltas... Pero me encantó! Veremos cuanto me dura...

Hmmm... how to look chick at the train station in the morning when you're barely awake, there's a throng of people swarming the platform and you're worried you've got your purse, your coat and your MP3 player still with you?? IMPOSSIBLE! That's why I love this pic I guess... Total uthopia... What do you think?? Do you look this stylish in the mornings??

By the way, Mary Flower: I travelled with your mum this morning, I hadn't seen her in ages! She actually resembled someone totally cool and stylish like the lady in the photo!

Just finished reading... {Divisadero}

Hello!! I'm so sorry I've been missing lately... a lot's been going on and I'm trying to adjust back to my regular schedule!

Hola!! Perdón que estuve tan desaparecida estos días... pasaron mil cosas y recién ahora me estoy ajustando a mi rutina!

I just finished reading Divisadero, a book by Michael Ondaatje (author of The English patient). The story is really interesting... It'd be a bit hard to explain over one post, as the narration begins in the '70s in California and ends at the beggining of the XXth century (or almost) in France. I was a bit shocked by the ending. If you're looking for a story that ends all wrapped up in the end with a bow: avoid Divisadero. I guess I took it as a novel to challenge yourself and go beyond what's "stablished". Ondaatje has a way of going forward and back, crossing stories and characters, scenography and time in a way that's mesmerizing and it won't let you put it down. I thoght this book would be completely different and it blew my mind away. It is written and narrated in a completely different way than we're used to, and I loved it for that.

You're probably reading all of this and thinking I'm saying a lot without actually saying a thing... and perhaps I should re-read it to try to make the most of the end. But, what I can say is that if you feel like reading something challenging, analizing a bit of techique and literature you're going to love this book. Right now I'm thinking it's a love or hate situation, and I'm loving it!


Acabo de terminar de leer Divisadero, un libro escrito por Michael Ondaatje (autor de El paciente inglés). La historia es muy interesante... es un poco dificil de explicar en un post, ya que comienza en California en los '70 y termina más o menos a principios del siglo XX en el sur de Francia. El final me shoqueó un poco. Si estás buscando una historia que termine super resuelta con un moño al final, no leas Divisadero. Yo me la tomé como una novela para desafiarse a uno mismo y ver más allá de lo establecido y conocido. Ondaatje tiene una manera de ir para adelante y para atrás, cruzando historias y personajes, escenografías y tiempo que es hipnotizante y no te permite dejar de leer. Pensé que este libro iba a ser completamente diferente y me sorprendió. Está narrado en una forma completamente distinta a la que estamos acostumbrados y me encantó. 

Probablemente estén leyendo esto y piensen que estoy diciendo mucho sin en verdad decir algo... y tal vez tenga que volver a leer el libro para sacar algo más del final. Lo que les puedo decir es que si tienen ganas de leer algo que las desafíe, analizar un poco de técnica y de literatura les va a encantar este libro. Para mí es una situación de amor-odio, y a mí me encantó!

A Starbucks proposal + opening

Just in case you guys didn't already know, we have a new Stabucks Coffee Store in our neigbourhood! You can now find it at the corner of Federico Lacroze and 3 de Febrero (Belgrano). Make sure to try out the Dulce de Leche Frapuccino Crème.... to die for this summer! (Warning: for some reason the store is full of 12-15 year olds... might want to consider the time you hit the store!)

And now something to illustrate the news: a Starbucks proposal, photographed by a friend in desguise. How cute is that??

(Advertencia: por alguna razón el local está lleno de chicas y chicos de 12 a 15 años, ténganlo en cuenta para elegir el horario!).

Monceau Parc avec The Cherry Blossom Girl

There's a garden in Paris that I love. I've actually never been to this particular park as last year I didn't know it's name and I thought it would be easy enough to find it (and I never did). Later I discovered it's not on the "touristy things-to-do list", and I've become even more intrigued by it! That's why I was totally pleased when I saw The Cherry Blossom Girl's last blog entry: an entire photoshoot among the trees, autumn leaves and Corinthian columns at Monceau Parc!

Alix, or The Cherry Blossom Girl (the brunette in the photos), goes all over Paris and other pretty French locations and does great fashion photoshoots that I love to gawk at, and I'm pretty sure you'll love too, so I think it's a great idea to start my brand new Blog roll with her!. Her blog is lovely, and it just makes you want to have a great photographger around you all the time so you can start posting fantastic pics of yourself in breathtaking outfits (note to self: I need a friend who can take amazing photos and doesn't mind chasing me around BA!). Enjoy!

Hay un jardín en París que me encanta. En realidad es un paque que no conozco, el año pasado quise ir y no sabía cómo se llamaba y pensé que iba a ser fácil encontrarlo (y al final nunca llegué). Más tarde me enteré que no está en la lista de cosas típicas para hacer en París, y ahora me intriga más! Por eso me encantó el último post de The Cherry Blossom Girl: una sesión de fotos entre los árboles, las hojas caídas y las columnas corintias del Monceau Parc!

Alix, o The Cherry Blossom Girl (la morocha de las fotos), va por todo París y otras locaciones francesas lindísimas para hacer sesiones de fotos que sube a su blog. La verdad es que son geniales y estoy segura que a ustedes les va a gustar tanto como a mí por eso me parece que es un blog genial para empezar mi nuevo Blog roll! Su blog está bárbaro, y de sólo verlo te dan ganas de tener un buen fotógrafo que te persiga por todos lados y te saque fotos buenísimas con conjuntos increíbles (nota: necesito una amiga que saque fotos espectaculares y que no tenga problema de seguirme por todo BA!). Disfruten!

Photos that cheat

Sometimes as consumers we come across certain products that you just wonder how you bought them in the first place. Advertising has a big role on this, but most of the time the packaging really helps selling the product. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against this at all, I LOVE advertising, and I love the art and research and detail that go into packaging as well... as long as the photo or the advert is selling something remotely simmilar to the real product. In this case my Mum bought what looked like really nice chocolate cookies. You should have seen my face once I opened the package... It makes you wonder if they placed the wrong product in the wrong box! Someone should tell the folks at Carrefour that by selling cookies in a cardboard box instead of a plasic wrapper doesn't make the product "premium". It turns out to be a complete disappointmet, so much so that I had to take a picture of it. (PS: the taste is as bad as the real photo / Click on the photos to see the BIG difference).

A veces, como consumidores nos encontramos con ciertos productos que te hacen pensar cómo es que los terminaste comprando. La publicidad cumple un rol fundamental, pero el packagint también ayuda muchísimo a la hora de la venta. No me malinterprenten, me ENCANTA la publicidad, así como también el arte, investigación y detalle que forman parte del proceso de elaboración del packaging... siempre y cuando la foto o la publicidad vendan algo mínimamente parecido al producto real. En este caso mi mamá comrpó unas galletitas de chocolate que parecían bastante buenas. Deberían haber visto mi cara cuando abrí el paquete... Te hace pensar si no pusieron el producto equivocado en la caja equivocada! Alguien le debería decir a la gente de Carrefour que el sólo hecho de vender galletitas en una caja de cartón en vez de en un envoltorio de plástico no las convierte automáticamente en un producto "premium". Termina siendo una desilución total, tanto que le tuve que sacar una foto. (PD: la galletita es tan fea como la foto real / Hagan click en la foto para ver bien la GRAN diferencia).

Walls gone wild*

I'm loving this in The City Sage: a whole post on wallpaper! I've been seeing everywhere lately how wallpapering has started to become more of a thing to keep in mind when decorating a space, rather than just choosing a strong color for your walls. I usually don't fall all over the place for heavely colored wallpaper, I'm more into what I like to call "Scandinavia meets La Provence", but I'm LOVING these two looks, specially the wallpaper in the bedroom! Gemma Comas does unbelievable interior photography!

I generaly post things I would love to try out or own, but in the case of this dining room I am absoulutely mystified by Starck's Louis Ghost chairs. I love the concept: a beautifully dressed table in a room filled with detail and color, you just can't have the chairs clashing the whole thing, now can you? By the way, I love the way the colors on the photo match perfectly my blog's color palette!!

Me encanta este post en The City Sage: un post entero sobre empapelados! Últimamente estuve viendo por todos lados cómo el empapelado está regresando con más fuerza y vuelve a ser una opción más a tener en cuenta al decorar un espacio. Generalmente no me convencen mucho esos papeles sobrecargados y con mucho color, mi estilo es más onda "Escaninavia meets La Provence", pero me ENCANTAN estas dos fotos, especialmente el empapelado del dormitorio! Gemma Comas saca unas fotos de interiores increíbles!

Casi siempre posteo sobre cosas que me encantaría probar o tener, pero en el caso de la foto del comedor estoy totalmente embobada con las sillas Louis Ghost chairs, diseñadas por Starck. Me encanta el concepto de una mesa muy bien vestida, en una habitación llena de detalles y colores donde no podés meter unas sillas que te saturen y bloqueen la vista, no? Dicho sea depaso, me encanta como los colores de la foto combinan perfecto con la paleta de colores de mi blog!!

This is the bit of the neighbourhood of Retiro I get to see every morning on my way to work. Most people detest working downtown, but I'm absolutely in awe: by the people, the antique and modern buildings, the gorgeous (?) Retiro Train Station, everyone rushing to get to work around 9am, disappearing into the massive glass buildings... What isn't there to love? I get to work on a simple version of La Defense, and I love it!


Este es un pedacito del barrio de Retiro que veo todas las mañanas en el camino al trabajo. La mayoría odia tener que trabajar en el centro, pero a mí me encanta: la gente, los edificios antiguos y modernos, el lindísimo (?) edificio de la Estación de Trenes Retiro, todos corriendo para llegar a la oficina a las 9 de la mañana, desapareciéndo en los gigantescos edificios de vidrio... Qué no hay que querer? Me toca trabajar en una versión más simple de La Defense, y me encanta!

I don't know if this is entirely possible, but Michele Bernhardt has come up with a Colorstrology chart for Pantone. Modern women of yesterday

Is it THIINKING time already?? I don't know... but perhaps you'll love this little paragraph I found in my old copy of Chatlotte Brontë's Jane Eyre. Why did I pick this 643 pages-long book when I was barely eleven years-old and just starting to get English beats me. Even more amazing is the fact that I stumbled upon the paragraph I transcript below because I have marked it back in '96. Sometimes I am awed by the eleven-year-old me.

It is in vain to say human beings ought to be satisfied with tranquillity: they must have action; and they will make it if they cannot find it. Millions are condemned to a stiller doom than mine, and millions are in silent revolt against their lot. Nobody knows how many rebellions besides political rebellions ferment in the masses of life which people earth. Women are supposed to be very calmed generally: but women feel just as men feel; they need exercise for their faculties, and a field for their efforts as much as their brothers do; they suffer from too rigid a restraint, too absolute a stagnation, precisely as men would suffer; and it is narrowminded in their more privileged fellow-creatures to say that they ought to confine themselves to making puddings and knitting stockings, to playing on the piano and embroidering bags. It is thoughtless to condemn them, or laugh at them, if they seek to do more or learn more than custom has pronounced necessary for their sex.

And to think that this book was first published in 1847!!


Ya es la hora de PENSAR denuevo?? Espero que les guste este párrafo que encontré en mi copia de Jane Eyre de Charlotte Brontë. Por qué elegí este libro en inglés de 643 páginas cuando apenas tenía once años y recién empezaba a entender inglés? no sé. Y más me llamó la atención cuando enconté este párrafo (que les transcribo abajo) marcado por mí en el '96. Aveces me sigue sorprendiendo mi versión de once años. .

“Es en vano decir que los seres humanos deben estar satisfechos con la tranquilidad: las personas deben tener actividades y las inventarán si no las encuentran. Millones están condenadas a una inmovilidad aún más silenciosa que la mía, y millones están en rebeldía silenciosa contra su suerte. No desafíes a la chocotorta!!

(Do not defy the Chocotorta!!)

Dears, I'm going to pass on some sound advice, things I learned the hard way this weekend: when doing the Chocotorta (famous Argentine cake made with Chocolinas cookies, dulce de leche and whipped cream) NEVER defy it!! Follow the rules excatly as they appear in the package. Meaning: if the recipe says it serves six and you have twelve guests, DON'T bend the rules by smuggly thinking you can just double the ingredients and have double the servings!! Big, BIG mistake!! Apparently at Bagley they teamed superior ingeneers to come up with the exact recipe, and they came to the conclusion that the only proper way is by starting the cake with 12 cookies at a time, and that's that. That doesn't mean you can just shrug and say "I have 12 people, I'll double the cookies". Unfortunately this is not like one of those math problems we had to solve in the 4th grade. Now you'll have to become an engeneer yourself and think of a way to save the cake from sliding off of itself. In my case I invented some contingency walls that worked just fine. Word has it it was delicious non the less... some even asked specialy to be served the sides, just so they could get an extra Chocolina... how about you? Did you try it??

Queridas, les voy a dar un consejo que aprendí este fin de semana cuando hice una Chocotorta: NUNCA la desafíen!! Sigan las instrucciones al pie de la letra. Esto significa que si la receta dice que es para seis porciones y vos tenés doce invitados NO trates de quebrar las reglas pensando que podés duplicar la cantidad de ingredientes y tener el doble de porciones!! Gran, GRAN error!! Aparentemente en Bagley juntaron a un grupo de ingenieros para que consiguieran la receta exacta y llegaron a la conclusión de que la única forma de realizarla es con pisos de a 12 galletitas, y sólo así. Esto no significa que puedas encojerte de hombros y decir "Tengo 12 personas, duplico las galletitas". Acá no tienen nada que ver esos problemas de matemática de 4º grado... Te vas a tener que convertir en una ingeniera y pensar en un método para salvar a la torta para que no se patine sobre sí misma. En mi caso inventé estas paredes de contingencia que funcionaron bastante bien. Los rumores afirman que estuvo bárbara igual... algunos inclusive pidieron especialmente de los bordes, para poder comer una Chocolina de más.... y vos? la probaste??

The "smart" comes with the glasses

So, does anyone else relate to the fact that wearing glasses turns you instantly into a really smart person? Don't you just love it?? It's come in handy more than a couple of times now, and I've always been fascinated at how this disability has turned into a fashion statement (much to my advantage).

These past few weeks I've been seeing all over the net these gorgeous, big, nerdy glasses that I think are absoultely sexy. I've come to terms with the fact that I just can't pull this style off.... one thing is looking sexy smart, another is passing off as an old, grumpy librarian from another era... so when I got my new glasses I had to keep that in mind, and I LOOOOOOVE them! I finally got myself some black trims and I can't wait until I get them back from the lab!!

No les pasa que para las otras personas, el hecho de que una use anteojos automáticamente la convierte en alguien re-inteligente? No les encanta?? Me vino bárrbaro un par de veces, y siempre me fascinó el hecho de que este defecto se conviertiera en un "fashion statement".

Estas últimas semanas encontré por todos lados estos anteojos enormes, negros y nerds, y me parecen super sexies. Pero llegué a la conculsión de que yo no puedo con este estilo... una cosa es parecer sexy e inteligente y otra es parecer una vieja bibliotecaria de otra época... así que cuando busqué mis anteojos nuevos tuve que tener eso en cuenta, y me ENCANTANNN! Al final me animé y compré unos marcos negros y no me aguanto hasta que los traigan del laboratorio, los quiero ya!!

I got the call!

For all of you that have been worring with me... I got the call! So I'm starting the new job on Monday! I'm totally stoked! Thanx for putting up with me these fast few days!! :D


Para todos lo que estuvieron preocupados conmigo... me llamaron!! Así que empiezo el nuevo trabajo el lunes! Estoy re contenta! Gracias por hacerme el aguante estos días!! :D
