Life is too short...

This is for my friend S, who last week decided to put her bitchy boss in her place and take off with her head held high! Some people are just not worth slaving over...

Have a great weekend!! (I know S will!)

I got these in an e-mail, but you can see the whole campaign here.

Pergamino weekend

I know I promised photos from my minitrip to Pergamino, but unfortunately it rained all weekend long. We pretty much stayed in, baked a lemon pie, watched a movie, chatted for hours, ate merengue out of the bowl, slept in, played board games and got all dressed up to go to a house party.

But I think Pergamino is a gorgeous city, and I just got to scape from the world's most boring meeting, so I'll give you these pics of the last time I was there during the winter. For some reason these happen to be my most visited photos on Panoramio (Google Earth's amazing photo aplication, it's photos you upload on the site and magically pop up on GE!).

Buenos Aires {Estación de trenes Retiro}

This is what happens when there's a lot of people standing in line at the train station and you have all this time while waiting to get the train ticket, and you realise that today you brought your camera with you.

Follow me!

Don't you miss real letters? I do, all the time. I used to write a lot, I even had my own box with stationary to choose and write on whatever I felt like and a separate box with all the letters I received monthly. I wonder what happened to that. I haven't revcieved a real letter in ages. I mean, one of those where people actually sat down at a table and filled a blank page with their tidy, messy, round, lovely, illegible, blue or black letters, you could tell how the other person was feeling just by reading their hand writing.

Well, unfortunately I can't offer you that through this blog (although if you're reading you provably know how to reach me, and I promise to write back if I do receive a real letter - even if scanned and sent via e-mail), in the meantime, I'm introducing Blogger Newsfeed: a handy little tool that'll keep you updated everytime I publish a new post. It's the next best thing to getting a letter from me, right? ;)

All of you techies can subscrite to Journal de petits détails with the new links at the bottom of the right hand column.

Let this be a reminder...

Let this be a reminder to all of you... if you have any alternate e-mail accounts (like say in HOTMAIL), remember to check in once in a while, like in the next 290 days since your last login. Otherwise, all your emails will be GONE.

So goodbye to all my High School emails. Goodbye subscription codes and user names. Goodbye old chats and e-mails from my teen years... you shall be missed.

It's a cruel, cruel summer

8am. One of the hotest days of the year. You, standing in front of your closet deciding what to wear on a day you know will reach 40°C or more, plus rain.

Argh!!!

What do you do?? I mean, you surely can't show up naked at the office, even if it's Casual Friday. And showing up in a bathing suit and rain boots is pretty much out of the question too.... And as I write this, I see out of the office windows how the entire city went from a bright sunny humid day to a black, threatening, concrete city and I'm wondering how I'll walk out of here, or if I'll leave this place at all!!

Fortunately I'm going away for the weekend to a place called Pergamino, haven't been in a while so I promise some good pictures!!

Have a great weekend!

New York, New York...

The past two days at the office seemed like they would go on forever... the first two months went by flying, but lately, every time I look at the little clock on the sceen, it looks like only 10 minutes have gone by, which happens about 60 times a day. And there's so much that's "my resposibility" (my boss' new mantra) that blogging from the office is pretty much out of the question at times.

I need a trip anywhere, ASAP. I'm not picky, I just need to get on a plane and fly away (yeah, pretty much like Dido's song). And it really doesn't help when all of a sudden everyone I know is either going, coming or in New York. Seriously, screw the Inca Trail, never mind Backpacking Europe or lying in the sun in Greece. NYC is THE city once more. Or it never stopped? I was so surprised that suddenly everyone's going... I want someone to take me with them!! And do lots of shopping pretending there's no world crisis, and skate at Central Park this time of year.

Do you think I can go to New York and back on my two-days-2009-vacation?? TWO DAYS for 2009... it's just waaaay too depressing. I'm starting to plan weekend mini trips as of now. But right right right now: I want to be a part of it.....

Happy Valentine's Weekend!

Another Valentine's Day is right around the corner. Wether it's your first with someone, your first alone, you're running out of ideas or you've got the perfect plan, how are you planning on spending it?

Me, I'm not sure. P and I always pretend it's not an important date, but then we are at the last second trying to figure out what to do so we don't let the moment pass. Our most memorable? Probably the year we had dinner at Azurra, a restaurant on a19th floor in downtown Buenos Aires. He'd booked a table by the window, and we had a spectacular view of Puerto Madero and we saw the Gay Cruise take off into the night all lit up. Too bad it closed, 'cause the restaurant was really nice, although the food was a bit blah. What do you care, though, it's Valentine's!!

Please post your plans for tomorrow and have a GREAT weekend!!

Yellow chrysanthemum

I was not having a good day yesterday. I can't really put down in words and on the internets all that was going on in my head. But it just wasn't my greatest. After having had dinner with the girls, I realised I had enough money for a three blocks taxi ride, so I went for a bus instead.

Waiting and waiting and waiting.

It was enough to start going through my thoughts all over again. It was dark, past midnight and I was getting a bit stressed. After 51 MINUTES of being alone with my thoughts, a guy out of nowhere comes along with a bouquet of flowers. I started getting paranoid, wishing he'd go away as he stops two feet away from me. He turns around and hands me a yellow flower. I said "thank you" two or three times, and he didn't say a word, he just smiled and left. And there I was, standing by the sidewalk in the middle of the night, and I was speechless. I couldn't hold back the tears and at that moment all of my problems and worries got solved.

So this is a big THANK YOU to that guy who last night at 12.51 was walking around the city with a bouquet of flowers. Never underestimate the kindness of strangers.

It's all about the gut

It's the days before Valentine's and, you know, everyone's talking about it either in a possitive or negative way, and well... this Valentine's I'm gonna dedicate it to Wallis and Edward. You might wonder... who are they and why have I piked them? Well, I've always been sort of intrigued by them, one of those little-known love stories by our generation, but that at their time must have revolutioned society in such a political way that makes you wonder, how can someone go through life with such a predestined burden. Because ok, let's say that a person's life is not predetermined... A lot of people will agree to that. But I think there's a tiny exeption to this rule: monarchy.

Edward VIII wasn't allowed by the crown nor Parliament to marry Wallis Simpson (a two-times American divorcee). I've always admired George's gut, to stand up in front of the British Empire and say: "I have found it impossible to carry the heavy burden of responsibility and to discharge my duties as king as I would wish to do without the help and support of the woman I love" (Wiki), and let his brother, King George VI stand up to the throne. I wonder what would have happened if he had given up on Wallis... Who'd be king/queen of Britain today? Would Diana have met such a tragic death? Would my infatuation over Prince William be the same?

Many, many questions, but I'm still amazed by the one man strong enough to realise what he wanted, step up to the occasion and make his own destiny, spending the rest of his life with the woman he loved.

Banana pancakes

Tuesday. Storm. Afternoon. Office.

Somehow these four words don't seem to combine, not today at least. Days like today make me think of Jack Johnson's song Banana Pancakes. Just stay home, snuggle up and do nothing at all. *Sight* How long until the day is out? (Click here to complete relaxation).

Can't you see that it's just raining
Ain't no need to go outside...
But Baby, You hardly even notice
When I try to show you this
Song is meant to keep ya
From doing what your supposed to
Like waking up too early
Maybe we can sleep in
I'll make you banana pancakes
Pretend like its the weekend now

(...)

And we could pretend it all the time
Cant you see that its just raining
Ain't no need to go outside
Ain't no need ain't no need Mmmm MMmmm
Cant you see cant you see
Rain all day
And I don't mind.

L'ultimo bacio

Today was one of those nights that's just perfect for renting one of those movies there's no chance I could convince P on watching. And I've been meaning to watch The last kiss for a really long time. For no special reason, really. I just love Zack Braff, and the story seemed quite interesting and all, so I rented it. Right from the begging I started feeling like I'd already seen it, scenes kept occuring and somehow I sort of knew what the character would do or say next but I was sure I hadn't seen it before... weird.

Until somewhere throughout the middle of the movie it came to me... IT'S THE REMAKE OF L'ULTIMO BACIO!!!! How had I not realised before that The last kiss is L'ultimo bacio... I don't know. I felt so silly!! I've been meaning to see Zack's movie for quite some time too!!

After the initial shock I decided to keep watching. The story is so good that it doesn't matter wether it's in Italian or English. I have to admit though that I like the Italian version better. Stefano Accorsi (photo above) is hotttt and really good on this film, but Jacinda Barrett (who plays Rebecca on Bridget Jones II) really surprised me and, in my opinion, totally nailed the part on this remake.

The whole story is quite strong, and it deal's with different couples at different moments of their relationships. Makes you think, hard. Or at least that's what happened to me, I started bringing it down to the relationships I know, specially now when it seems like everyone's getting married and having kids. It just makes you stop and think. And that's good, to start analising and seeing things from a different angle from time to time. I liked it.

PS: It's a good thing P never agreed to watch it, 'cause if I'd made him watch that movie twice I'd never hear the end of it!

How about you? Was your weekend so productive?

Copycats (copionas)

I saw these two pics by Wendy Bevan and it got me thinking, besides the fact that these are extraordinary and the colors are surreal, don't we all have photos like these with our gals? We all love our shoe shots and we hardly miss the chance to take one of these, and I started thinking... how many girls out there have one (perhaps less stylish) photo just like the ones above? Hmmm... probably a gazillion.

Oh, I also love that all three of them are wearing the same nail polish!

(Found these shots through Lolita)

Miss Dior Chérie

Today I wanna run through the city to a French song, try on clothes, have cupcakes, wear a pink dress and golden shoes with bows, ride my bicycle and be absolutely gorgeous and carefree. And live in Paris, of course!

I'm absolutely in love with the new Miss Dior Chérie advert, produced by Sofia Coppola.

PS.: Feel free to get me the parfum if you're ever stuck at the freeshop!!
